Earthworks is looking for a detail-oriented person to assist in running the Finance & Operations of Earthworks in Washington, DC.  The Finance and Operations Associate (FOA) is a full-time position and reports to the Director of Finance and Operations (DFO) 

Earthworks is always looking to operate more effectively and to be a greater resource to its community allies. A critical challenge during the next period will be updating, simplifying, and advancing Earthworks’ systems and operations so that the organization can operate as efficiently and professionally as possible. 

Finance & Operations 65%

  • Assist Finance & Operations director in processing, tracking, registering, and reconciling transactions for all Earthworks vendors and accounts, to ensure accurate expense coding and reporting.
  • Assist Finance and Operations Director with annual audit and 990 process and liaise with outsourced accountants as necessary.
  • Assist DFO in updating and creating simple and efficient office procedures and systems.
  • Manage logistics in planning and coordination of organization-wide meetings both virtually (and- when possible again- in person).
  • Assist in management of Earthworks HR as necessary.
  • Screen queries to the main telephone line and organizational email addresses.

Administrative Support to Philanthropy Team 35%

  • Responsible for data entry and hygiene in Salesforce. 
  • Manage donation processing including entering data in Salesforce, maintaining donation documentation files, preparing bank deposits, generating mail merges, and sending acknowledgement letters. 
  • Manage state charitable registration processes, Earthshare membership, Combined Federal Campaign participation, employee giving, and other charitable giving portal registrations.
  • Regularly update online charity profiles. 
  • Help with other projects as needed. 

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Prior experience with Quickbooks and Salesforce
  • Prior experience in non-profit accounting preferred
  • Acute attention to detail, precision, and accuracy
  • Proactive at problem solving and troubleshooting
  • Strong diplomacy and effective interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated and strong time management and organizational skill
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Commitment to environmental, human rights and social issues.

Compensation

We offer a generous benefits package that includes flex time, parental leave, vacation days, sick days, and a paid sabbatical for long-term employees.  The position pays $47,000-$52,000 commensurate with the selected candidate’s experience and skill level.
